Homecoming is this Saturday, September 16th. Academic Bowl Match @ 9 AM, Varsity Volleyball vs. KS School for the Deaf @ 11 AM & Varsity Football vs. KS School for the Deaf @ 2 PM. Prices included in Flyer. NMSD Museum will be open from 12:15 - 1:30 PM.
Day 1 of Spirit Week! Today was Crazy Head day.
Spirit Week starts on Monday the 11th and we are excited to have fun showing our Roadrunner Spirit as we gear up for Homecoming Day on the 16th. 9-11 is Crazy Head Day, 9-12 is Robot Day, 9-13 is Hero Day, 9-14 is Teacher & Student Swap Day and 9-15 is our Homecoming Pep Rally.
NTID Regional STEM Center at Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind provided a 3-day training on Middle School VEX IQ Robotics to NMSD, Rocky Mountain Deaf School, and Phoenix Bakersfield School District. Our teachers, Sherry and Carrie, will head up NMSD's team this year and they will participate in a VEX IQ Robotics competition at the Tennessee School for the Deaf in January 2024. How cool!!
Last night Student Life had a great time creating their own “homemade” Mini-Zozobra event! There was a BBQ, lots of games, and a Zozobra pinata before the main event. Students & families had a blast with fireworks burning up Old Man Doom and their gloom! #NMSDTrue #NMSDStudentLife
ASL Night at NM United's soccer match was so much fun!! Students and staff had the honor of running the flags around the field at the start of the match too! Thank you to all who came out and supported this fantastic Deaf Community event.
Lindsay Hand, our former NMSD student and certified scuba diver came to chat with some of our students in ECE and Elementary. From swimming with sharks to sharing deep sea stories, Lindsay inspired our students today! #NMSDtrue #NMSDece #NMSDelementary

Spaghetti and Marshmallow tower challenge in the Middle School Science classes today. The goal was to build the tallest and most stable tower. They all did a great job!

All events will be ASL interpreted. Bring friends and family and a chair or blanket to sit on! The next event is this coming Friday, August 18th, at the Santa Fe Railyard Park from 5PM to 9PM.
NMSD staff spent the week learning, having some fun and getting ready for the new school year!
It was wonderful to have staff on campus, in person plus it gave us a chance to get a snap of the whole crew!
