Dr. Jennifer Herbold
Superintendent

Dr. Herbold holds a BA degree in English and in Secondary Education, and a MA degree in Deaf Education from Gallaudet University, and a PhD in Language, Reading and Culture from the University of Arizona. She has worked at NMSD since 1999 and enjoys reading, crocheting, working on various projects, traveling and spending time with family.

Teresa Casias
Director of Finance & Chief Procurement Officer

Teresa joined NMSD in June 2024 with 25 years of experience in New Mexico School Finance. She holds a BA Degree in Accounting from New Mexico Highlands University. Teresa enjoys spending time with her two children.  She also enjoys playing golf, cooking, travelling, running, yoga, learning new things, and helping others.

Roddy Cabbage
Director of Student Affairs

Roddy holds a BS degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies from Gallaudet University and MA in Deaf Education from Idaho State University. He has worked at NMSD since 2005 and enjoys wood crafting, tinkering with stuff, boating and being outdoors.

Joanne Corwin
Director of Early Intervention & Developmental Services

Joanne has a BA degree in Elementary and Special Education, a MSE degree in Special Education from the University of New Mexico, and is a state certified Developmental Specialist III. She started at NMSD as an early intervention contractor from 1990-96 and as an employee since 1996. Joanne enjoys gardening, reading, hiking, camping and spending time with her family.

Rick Garcia
Director of Human Resources

Rick holds a BA Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Counseling, and an MBA in Finance.  He is also a graduate of Rapport Leadership International. Rick has worked at NMSD since 2015 and enjoys spending time with family, oil painting and connecting with nature.

Cindy Huff
Director of Statewide Educational Outreach

Cindy holds a BS degree in Elementary Education from Kansas State University and a MA degree in Deaf Education from Gallaudet University.  She has worked at NMSD since 2004 and enjoys cooking, baking, knitting, making art and catching up with friends.

Scott Mohan
Director of Instruction

Scott holds a BA degree  in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a MA degree in Deaf Education from Gallaudet University.  He has worked at NMSD since 2005 and enjoys scuba diving, camping, traveling, cooking and photography.

Angela Corona
Supervisor & Educational Leader: Albuquerqe ECE Program

Angela holds a MA in Speech and Hearing Sciences, a certificate in Educational Leadership and additional graduate work in Deaf Education and Special Education. She has worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist since 2004 and has worked at NMSD since 2006. Angela enjoys watching her sons play soccer, drawing and reading.

Diana Huizar
Principal: Santa Fe ECE & Elementary

Diana holds a BA degree in Early Childhood Education and MA degree in Deaf Education from Gallaudet University. She has worked at NMSD since 2012 where she taught upper Elementary students for 10 years and then became the Elementary principal. Diana enjoys spending
time with her family, going camping, traveling and reading

Missy Lamb
Whole Child Support Team Coordinator

Missy holds a BS degree in Sign Language Interpreting and a MS degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of New Mexico. She has worked at NMSD since 2006 and enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Letty Perez
Athletic Director

Letty holds a BS in Physical Education from Gallaudet University and a MS in Deaf Education from McDaniel College.  Letty has worked at NMSD since 2000 and enjoys traveling with her wife, boating, and taking their dogs to different places.

Maureen Yates
Principal: Middle & High School

Maureen Yates holds a BA in Elementary Education, a MA in Deaf Education and Ed.S degree in Change Leadership in Education from Gallaudet University. She has been in the field of Deaf Education for 23 years and has been at NMSD since 2019. Maureen enjoys spending time with her four children, hiking, gardening and taking long road trips.
